Looking for a meaningful way to honor Memorial Day in Petaluma? Join us at Body English on Monday, May 26, 2025, for our second annual Murph Challenge—a powerful, free community workout honoring Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy and all fallen service members.
The Murph workout is one of the most iconic Hero WODs in the fitness world. It's a true test of endurance, strength, and grit—and it's open to all fitness levels. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or doing Murph for the first time, we’ll support you every step of the way.
What is the Murph Workout?
The classic Murph includes:
- 1 mile run
- 100 pull-ups
- 200 push-ups
- 300 air squats
- 1 mile run
(Using a 20lb vest or body armor)
Workout options and modifcations will be provided by the coach leading the event, to meet everyone at their current level and ability.
We’ll start together at 9:00 AM and go until the last person finishes. This will be a coach-led event with a full warm-up, modifications for all fitness levels, and community support throughout.
Post-Workout Potluck
Stick around after the workout! We’re hosting a community potluck and hangout. Bring something to share and connect with other local athletes and supporters.

Why We Do Murph
This workout is more than physical. It’s a tribute. Lt. Michael Murphy was killed in action in 2005 during Operation Red Wings. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor, and his favorite workout—known as “Body Armor”—has since become the annual Murph Challenge, uniting gyms and communities around the world every Memorial Day.
